The most stylish men in the world wear stone necklaces
If you think that pearls are an exclusively feminine treasure, you are completely wrong: in 2019 is the favorite jewel of men (who have style).
The previous are not the first public figures to adorn themselves with pearls; the genius of the seam Giambattista Valli always adorns himself with some, Marc Jacobs does it from Easter to Ramos, which does not take away from his value; the rapper A1 is obsessed with them and Pharrell Williams flirts with them from the beginning of his friendship with the house Chanel. Steven Tyler, Jay Z and footballer Tom Browne also have been immortalized with this kind of jewelry.
There have been men who have been jewelled throughout history. The maharajas, for example, were not content to wear a thread, but practically covered their chest with a bib of pearls which, as a rule, they mixed with other precious stones such as rubies, emeralds and sapphires. Practically all the crowns of European kings are dotted with the gem that serves as the thread of this theme.
The English sailor, corsair, writer, courtier and politician Walter Raleigh in the 16th century was portrayed with a pear-shaped pendant (like Harry Styles at the last MET gala) and a century later it was done by King Charles I of England, Ireland and Scotland himself; he was wearing it when he was beheaded on January 30, 1649. The pieceis still preserved. In Spain, the most famous pearl is La Peregrina, the one hanging from Philip III's hat in the Prado Museum's equestrian Velázquez. It ended up in the hands of actress Liz Taylor and on her death it was auctioned at Christie's New York headquarters for 9 million euros.
How to implement this trend? By following the path taken by the men mentioned above. The most elegant way of throwing the pearl on top, contrary to what Maluma does with chat rooms and chains of diamonds, is giving them a secondary role. Giambattista Valli hides the front of the necklace in his navy blue or black cashmere sweaters or camouflages it in basic white shirts that he matches with formal jackets.
Miguel Becer plays down theimportance of the jewel by decontextualizing it with all kinds of sports and urban clothes and Pelayo does it by wearing it only with a swimsuit. Justin O'Shea gets rid of all prejudices and in his proposal for SSS World Corp he highlights the pearls on suits, tracksuit jackets, knitted vests, printed shirts, polka-dotted shirts and airy breasts.
To avoid looking disguised, the smartest thing is not to combine these collars with Chanel tweed jackets, as Pharrell or Marc do, or with cardigans - unless you want to be mistaken for Queen Elizabeth II walking around her Balmoral properties. The tighter the necklace, the more your collar stands out and yourcollarbone, and thesmallerand moreheterogeneous the pieces that make it up, the more summery and relaxed you will look in the mirror. Reject the large pieces, type Vilma Flintstone, and if you want to feel unique and original, opt for grey or black pearls.
Where to buy them? Raid the nearest family jewellery box. Next summer fimo beads or coconut pieces may be back in fashion.
